UNTU IN THE COMMUNITY

UNTU IN THE COMMUNITY 01 Dec 2017

Our company name “Untu” is derived from “Ubuntu”, a value system centred on oneness and belonging to the community. In our African community setup, one’s well being is dependent on the other’s well being; as such our company mantra is “I am because you are”. It therefore naturally follows that giving back to our community is not only second nature but also an essential part of our corporate DNA.

Below are some of the community based initiatives that we have been involved in:

ACT Partnership with UNTU

Untu is a company that is young at heart and as such we strongly believe in capacitating the youth as they are our next generation of leaders. We have partnered with ACT Africa, an entrepreneur development organisation that seeks to identify, equip and fund entrepreneurs and give them the necessary training and mentorship to help them succeed in their endeavours. In 2017 Untu actively spread awareness of the ACT Africa initiative by putting up posters and distributing fliers throughout our 8 branch network. Our CEO, Mr. Clive Msipha, also volunteered his time in his personal capacity to mentor and coach the successful candidates. The successful candidate then won an interest free start-up loan as well business advisory services from Untu.

We look forward to continuing to nurture Zimbabwe’s next generation of business leaders.

ICT Improvements at Kaguvi Training Centre

Untu partnered with Kaguvi Training Centre, an institution offering vocational training in Gweru. Vocational training centres like Kaguvi are key in increasing the options of unemployed youths. The centre offers training in agriculture, hospitality, fabrication, clothing and mechanical engineering. As part of our CSR initiatives we donated computer equipment to aid in their operations. Our branch staff are also offering training in practical business skills and drawing up business plans.

Smiles Galore at Kabuyuni Primary School Prize Giving Day

It was all pomp and fanfare at Kabuyuni Primary School in Gokwe North on the 27th of October 2017 at their Annual Sports and Prize Giving Day. The event was graced by the Member of Parliament for Gokwe North Mr. Leonard Chikomba, Chief Muchimba and Untu’s Branch Manager for Gokwe Mr. Amon Basutu. Gokwe North has displayed great business potential and is home to many Untu clients, as such Untu Capital was compelled to give back to its most thriving but disadvantaged primary school. Parents and children alike could be seen smiling from ear to ear as they received gifts and awards donated by Untu Capital. It really is an honour to contribute and improve the areas we work in.
